PSIglobal Optimises Intersnack’s Distribution Network

Berlin, 16 July 2013 – PSI has convinced Intersnack Group GmbH & Co. KG, Düsseldorf, one of Europe’s leading producers of salty snacks, to use PSIglobal in the optimisation of their logistics.

The snack producer is taking on the planning, controlling and optimisation system developed by PSI Logistics GmbH in June 2013 for logistic networks, initially for selected subsidiaries. With the software system’s functions and tools, Intersnack will be able to check and further optimise the logistics processes of the entire supply chain from the production to the point of sale (PoS).

PSIglobal is the strategic standard software for establishing and expanding logistics networks, for mergers and acquisitions measures or the development of new business processes. With its scenario technology and integrated analytic models, multi-modal networks and multi-stage processes can be designed, checked and optimised; key parameters and sensitivities can be identified. In model analyses, for instance, the optimal number and location of sites or transportation structures can be determined, so as to reduce storage and transportation costs. Beyond that, by means of mathematical processes it is also possible to include expected quantity structures or labour cost developments in the planning and calibrate the networks accordingly.

With about 8,000 employees, a production volume of about 500,000 tons and annual sales of more than two billion euros, the Intersnack Group is one of the leading producers of salty snacks in Europe.

On the basis of its own software products, PSI AG develops and integrates complete solutions for energy management (gas, oil, electricity, heat, energy trading), production management (mining, metals, automotive, mechanical engineering, logistics) and infrastructure management for transport and safety. PSI was founded in 1969 and employs 1,600 persons worldwide.
