PSI Wins Another Strategic Contract for Energy Management Systems Many New Orders in 1st Quarter - First Major Customer in Switzerland

Berlin, 26 April 2000 - Following upon the high volume of new orders in 1999, PSI is continuing its successful course with solutions for energy management in the year 2000. Beside the major strategic contracts from REWAG Regensburger Energie- und Wasserversorgung AG & Co KG and the Stadtwerke Hannover AG, with BKW FMB Energie AG, Bern it has been possible to gain one of the large Swiss energy companies as a customer. The three contracts have a total volume of DM 21 Million. For PSI this means solidifying their position as the German market leader for energy market software and at the same time represents an important step in the internationalization of the energy business began in 1999.

BKW FMB Energie AG is one of the largest energy companies in Switzerland which is integrated in the European grid. In March 2000, BKW chose PSI over 5 other providers, determining that they had made the most economical offer, and best met the requirements. The object of the tender was to supply a large, medium-voltage control system, including BKW´s current data processing. The system includes seven centers and additional decentralized control stations for managing 8,000 network stations.

PSI was awarded the contract from REWAG to implement their cross-connecting control system for electricity, gas and water supply for the Regensburg region. This will replace the previous system, for which PSI supplied the software in the early eighties. As a result of the positive experience in the past and the high level of competence in the field of energy, PSI has now been awarded the general contract for the implementation.

The Stadtwerke Hannover AG contract consists of an innovative, distributed management system with central control and emergency control stations. One special feature of the future-oriented system is the integrated local service level. To that end, control positions for on-site control will be installed at 40 transformers.

The new control system for the Stadtwerke Hannover is also being integrated into the current data processing, thereby allowing for the exchange of source data and online data. PSI is currently the only German provider of complete solutions for the deregulated European energy market. The core of the services is the latest generation of open management systems which provide network operators with an inexpensive method of coupling with other systems.

PSI provides additional Internet-based solutions for electricity marketing and trading and grid use for transport and distribution for deregulated markets. An integrated software for planning and optimizing the use of power plants and energy trading in the deregulated electricity market and consulting and support in setting up special eCommerce offers round out the product palette.

Orders of over DM 100 million in the field of energy are proof of the acceptance of PSI solutions in the energy branch.
