PSI Denies Economic Slump with Increased Sales in Second Quarter

Berlin, 19 August 2002 – The PSI Group increased its sales in the second quarter by 3 % to 41.31 million euros (2001: 40.10 million euros). For the first half year sales decreased by 2.9% to 77.25 million euros (2001: 79.57 million euros). The EBIT decreased in the second quarter to –1.15 million euros (2001: 0.92 million euros) and in the first six months to –0.64 million euros (2001: 1.49 million euros). The group result in the second quarter was –1.12 million euros (2001: 0.33 million euros) and in the first six months –1.81 million euros (2001: –0.28 million euros). The second quarter of 2002 was marked by long decision-making processes for IT investments and uncertainty about the economic development. This especially had a negative impact on the business in the target market mechanical and plant engineering. Cash increased compared to the same quarter of the previous year by 2.06 million euros and compared to 31 December 2001 by 5.1 million euros to 17.97 million euros.

 

In the Network Management Segment (energy, telecommunication, traffic) sales increased in the first six months by 11.1% to 37.76 million euros (2001: 34.0 million euros) and the EBIT by 88% to 3.01 million euros (2001: 1.60 million euros). In the Production Management Segment (industry, logistics) sales decreased by 17.2% to 26.11 million euros (2001: 31.55 million euros) and the EBIT by 3.98 million euros to –3.74 million euros (2001: 0.38 million euros). In Information Management (authorities, service providers) sales decreased slightly by 4.6% to 13.37 million euros (2001: 14.02 million euros), whereby the EBIT could be increased by 0.44 million euros to 0.09 million euros (2001: –0.35 million euros).
